What is massage therapy?
Massage therapy is a form of manual therapy that involves the manipulation of soft tissues in the body, including muscles, connective tissues, tendons, and ligaments. It is used to help relieve stress, reduce pain, increase relaxation, improve circulation, and alleviate muscle tension and stiffness. Massage therapists use a variety of techniques, including kneading, rubbing, and pressing, to manipulate the soft tissue. Massage therapy can be performed using the hands, fingers, elbows, and forearms.
Deep tissue massage
The deep tissue massage is a type of massage which targets the deeper layers of the body, helps to break up scar tissue and adhesions within the muscles, which can slow the recovery from injury, if left untreated.
Deep Tissue helps to restore proper function by improving blood circulation, removing the toxins, reducing inflammation and increasing the range of motion by unlocking restricted muscles.
The aim of sports massage is to prevent injuries, prepare the body for athleticactivity, maintain it in optimal condition and to help recover from workouts andinjuries.It increases the flow of blood and nutrients to the muscle, helps reduce the development of scar tissue while increasing flexibility and range of motion.
Although it is most beneficial form of therapy for athletes, anyone can enjoy the benefits of sports massage. If you walk, hike, dance, run, lift weights, swim ordo any form of regular exercise you can benefit from therapeutic effects of sports massage.
Sports massage can be divided into three forms:
Pre- event massage, Post- event massage and Maintenance massage.
